COURSE: Pinehill Golf Club
DESIGN: Art Steiger
DATE: April, 1993
PINEHILL GOLF CLUB
To all our new members: Thank you for joining our Golf Club.
We hope your rounds will be both pleasant and rewarding. There are
no carts on this course, but we are more than happy to provide you
with a knowledgable caddie at no extra charge. Thanks again for
taking the time to join the club!
This fictional course is something of a patchwork quilt. I hit
upon the idea of "assembling" a course based upon actual terrain,
drawing on isolated, but interesting, geographical features around
the general area in which I live (Northwest Indiana). The result is
Pinehill Golf Club. The first half dozen holes were quite easy, but
after the ninth or tenth it became increasingly difficult to keep
within my game plan of using authentic geography. Alas, I was
compelled to invent on some of the last holes I worked upon, but
tried to remain faithful to the actual features in my county of
residence.
Again, I must tender my thanks to George Rodriguez III, from
whose files GR3OBJ01.ZIP and GR3OBJ02.ZIP came many of the objects
that appear in the present course. Several others were found in the
JNUG "Clip Art" collection (with a reworking for a better VGA
rendition). The balance are either original or are gleaned from
released JNSE products (some of which have been revised). The
background is an extensive reworking of Scott Chesney's beautiful
SPANISH BAY course.
I wanted to do something a little different with the background,
and decided to do a "twilight" sky theme, rather than going with the
more traditional trees, mountains, and/or water effects, and I think
it gives a tolerable suggestion of impending darkness.
I welcome your comments. Please contact me on the Accolade BBS
